Long-Tailed Mermaid, a hand-coloured etching by Bruce Thomson of a blue mermaid coiled around her own tail

Long-Tailed Mermaid is a hand-coloured etching, a sinuous mermaid coiling through Bruce Thomson's flowing line.

The plate is hand-tinted in sea-greens, corals and cool blues, so no two impressions read quite alike, and the long curling tail lets his line run unbroken from head to fin. A companion plate and a second mermaid subject sit alongside it in the etchings collection.
